Back at Gobi Inc, we used to hold our meetings standing up, based on ideas from DE Shaw. It was just our interdepartmental meetings, I think. Meetings within immediate co-workers might do well to be informal, with a chance to chat and brainstorm. But between departments lots of time can be wasted in posturing and power plays. Meetings with a clear agenda, not brainstorming meetings, can be done better standing up. It’s true!
